About Me
I intend my art to be a reflection of the order of the world that is around me, often highlighting the ironies and strangeness of juxtapositions I’ve found. My work also represents an attempt to highlight and improve my technical and descriptive artistic skills prior to and in conjunction with combining thematic elements.
I am eager to continue my artistic development and am excited about the possibility of synthesizing my current 2D, 3D, and digital skills with advanced processes. I hope to contribute to the artistic body of diverse perspectives, art-making methods, and ways of understanding the world.
I am fascinated with the concept of what it means to make art in the modern world, and how the function of art and design is embedded in our interactions with everyday objects and technology. I am interested in combining modern processes with traditional materials in ways that can lead to the democratization of high-quality, unique, and meaningful artwork and how that may affect quality of life for those in its proximity.
The idea of developing and featuring art in public space appeals to me whether it is handed down from civic leaders or thrust up from the artistic community.
I have a strong background in mechanical and industrial processes, and bring with me six years of experience operating, maintaining, and decommissioning nuclear reactors aboard naval submarines. In high school and early in college I took classes focusing on engineering, architecture, and technical design, with a personal emphasis on visual work. Because of this, problem-solving can often involve technical aspects for me. I have technical skills in working with 3D CAD models and developing printable parts that can be used by themselves, or with traditional materials such as slip-cast ceramic molds. I intend to continue exploring combining non-traditional architectural and art-creation processes with my own work in both the physical and digital space, documenting both art and the rest of the world around me in navigable augmented reality space, and physically manifesting digital creations as tactile and interactive experiences.
